Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) was founded in 1925 and is the largest university in Greece. It is structured across 12 faculties and 36 schools, offering a comprehensive portfolio of academic disciplines, from humanities and social sciences, to engineering, health sciences, natural sciences and beyond.

AUTH hosts a very large and diverse academic community: tens of thousands of undergraduates, graduates and doctoral candidates are enrolled at any time. Depending on the source and year, student population figures are reported around 80,000 to over 90,000 across all levels of study. The university employs a substantial teaching and research staff, supplemented by laboratory and technical personnel, ensuring robust academic and administrative capacity.

AUTH has a long tradition of research and international engagement. It participates in numerous European and international research collaborations, and its broad disciplinary coverage supports interdisciplinary research and education.

In the context of the Mitigate-Harm project, AUTH is represented through its Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE), and specifically, the Division of Electrical Energy (DEE). The AUTH team specializes in the topics of Converter Interfaced Renewable Energy Sources control (CIRES), modelling and integration, power systems control, and ancillary services provision, with several highly cited publications.
